Hello,
When you link a ‘List of Text’ question in a Q&A to a corresponding concept, you can populate the Q&A with the predefined values stored at the time of linking. Is there a way to keep the relevant question in the Q&A up to date whenever you add further predefined values to the underlying concept? (without deleting the predefined values in the question and re-importing them).
Updating the predefines in the datafield itself does indeed not centrally trigger updates of the Q&A questions tied to that datafield.
If you need to centrally manage predefines for a datafield, it is much better to use the “Placeholder” functionality that Clause9 offers. The general documentation page should be helpful in understanding the entire system: Global placeholders | Clause9.
A quick explanation of how I would tackle this:
Step 1: Access the Placeholder section of the Admin dashboard and create a placeholder list (Global placeholders | Clause9) that contains an entry for all the predefines you would need to present & save it.
Optional step 2: indicate the default value that should be pre-selected in the Q&A
Step 3: Update the Q&As where this list of predefines should be used, removing the predefines from those questions and substituting the placeholder identifier in its place in the “Values” field after having toggled the “Placeholders” option (Global placeholders | Clause9)
Optional step 4: if you have indicated a default value in the placeholder list, also insert the same placeholder identifier in the “Default value” field.
Step 5: Save the Q&A(s)
If afterwards you update the placeholder list in the Placeholder section of the Admin dashboard, that list will be updated in all questions where this placeholder list is being used.
