Binder: if I create a "new document", where is it saved?

Hello everyone,

My question is about adding documents to Binders. Normally, I create the document first, and add it to the Binder using “+Existing document”. This document is then locked within the Binder.

I have started creating some documents within the binder directly using “+New document”.

Where are these saved? Can I open them as a single document, and have changes made reflect in the binder? If I wanted to add one of these documents to a different Binder, how would I do so?

Searching for the document name in my database does not provide any results. Because the “+New document” are unlocked in the Binder, are they ONLY saved within the binder?

Cheers
Kai

Adding a new document in the binder using the “New document” button creates an ad hoc document that effectively only exists within that binder.

You can convert it to a document that exists separately in the library (just like any other document you would save) by clicking the three dots on the right and selecting “Save as independent document”:
